    I picked up my 184 version card from the dealer today. (free because my 2017 was suppose to come with one) plugged it in and it flashed a message "reading map data" then finished booting like normal. Now it just turns on like normal and Map Data version is 5-01-2016 like it should. it had a may 2015 date before.

    Good eye. That's definitely not in a third gen Tacoma, nor do the third gen nav units have the phone buttons next to the optical disc slot or a knob on the upper-right corner labelled with something starting with "TUN"

    I've been working on this for a few weeks now and I absolutely can not get this to work on my 16. It's so frustrating.

    I guess we never heard back from @ppauly on what vehicle he was displaying images of, since it clearly wasn't a 3rd gen Tacoma?

    Piggybacking on an existing thread....

    I just upgraded from an 06 to a 16 (used) and it doesn't have a navigation SD. Can I pick up a 184 card from ebay and it be plug-n-play with no issues?

    While we're all quite fascinated at the stats for Alpine, Alabama, I'm unsure that really answers @Vietguy's question... :D

    @Vietguy -- first off, I'd be talking to whomever you bought the truck from as to why they didn't include the nav card. That's supposed to be there. However, yes a 184 card should work just fine. I believe the other is an older version.

    Picked up an 0E184 SD card on eBay for $50 and sold my 0E183 for $40 so it cost $10 to do the upgrade. Not sure how much better the maps are, haven't had enough time to play with it yet. Be careful on eBay, the first SD card I purchased was listed as 0E184 but I ended up getting a 0E182. I returned it for a full refund, just make sure the listing includes a photo of the SD card with the side that shows the P/N.

    Do you know the SHA1 hash for the different versions? It would be wise to verify these images/sd cards using a checksum.

    What are you anticipating would be an issue?

    Per the thread where folks have tried to duplicate cards, it seems the Entune system is using some mechanism to disallow cloned cards. I believe it's related to the CID but I don't have tools to verify that this is the case (and have insufficient interest to get/setup the tools needed to read SDcard CIDs).

    Pretty much the card's going to work or it'll be rejected by the headunit.

    To verify the new card was OK I just installed it and made sure the Nav came up then checked for the correct date and version in the Nav options.

    I'd be concerned about malware of some sort. Anytime you are getting software from somewhere "unknown", especially from a source like ebay, you should be careful. The hash verification would show whether or not someone has changed something.

    Example:
    Hash= 8a08657415fa8e7a3f163df2bc0a8027d29accdf

    Hash= aad505e3af53ad9c0dd1e23ebd232eec12ec80c0
