What's the part number on your Nav SD card and map date?

I'm gonna have to take the Ole Lady's Corolla to an out of town dealer and get that test drive on a new 17 TRD Sport, I guess.. hehe

 

Ha! Yeah, I guess it would be a little weird to show up parking a 2016, asking to test drive a 2017.

 

So hopefully the other feller can come through, network keeps timing out for some reason

I am also uploading an image file as well, but it's taking awhile longer.

 

I don't think there's going to be any way to generate an SD card just based on copied files. After reminding myself of what SD cards even mean...secure digital....it's secure in that the card has a hardware ID that matches an expected ID for the software installed on it. You try and copy the data to another card, ID values don't match.

I spoke with Toyota about this and both corporate and the dealership told me they are not in the habit of giving these things out, even when I bought the truck just days before the new version was made available. I think we'll be buying our upgrades, unfortunately.

I wonder how often Toyota has to worry about their new vehicles getting older versions of maps after extended test drives or loaner cars go out during a service visit. Not advocating, of course.

 

I'm downloading it now and I've got an adapter for my OE183 to compare the two.

 

I am grabbing a copy of the files. Running linux here with a few tools that will create a new image on an SD card no problem. I may get a chance to test it tonight... if so, I will post results.

EDIT: The download keeps failing at 23 percent.. then wants me to buy more download bandwidth. Perhaps dropbox would be better?

 

I've been downloading since 8 pm yesterday and I'm at 51%

 

For those thinking about test drives, I'm wondering if the dealerships remove the map cards until the vehicles are sold so there is no chance someone will remove the navigation cards?

 

Downloading now.. going to try this once download completes.. we will see if it needs to use a secured card or not..

I can't get the stupid thing to download. I have crazy bandwidth, and it's like Dropbox is throttling it to make me pay to go premium.

 

I'm attempting the Dropbox download now. The Mega download stalled at 57%, throttled back to almost nothing. Dropbox is going a lot faster already

I wonder if the map and navigation is covered under warranty if for some strange reason my map card were to become corrupted due to no fault of my own.
