This would imply the software is somehow connected to the actual SD card which makes sense. People are buying them from ebay and updating with no dealer computer equipment etc. The only reasons for it not to work on a cloned card is something that is being read from the hardware of the SD card.

You can usually buy the card directly from the dealers parts department without paying for the install but at ~$160 for just the sd card it's still a ripoff.

So they do not need to do the tech stream thing to make it work? I actually wouldn't mind buying it if can plug it in, have it work, then walk back in and get the lying butthole and the manager to show them what a lying ripoff he was trying to be.

@jmdwifi Maybe post up in your region and see if there's someone with the new car willing to meet up and try a swap?

If you google 86271-0E184 you'll see quite a few Toyota dealers pop up where there sell it online thru their parts department. Haven't tried it yet but I have read reviews of people who purchased the previous sd card (0E183) and they said all they had to do was pop it in and wait about 10 minutes for it to load and everything was fine.

Success!! Had 183 downloaded 184 from your google drive. Took my card with 183 on it and formatted it to fat32. Then copied the img file of 184 I downloaded and inserted it in my radio. Did some updating then it asked to turn off car and turn back on. Did some more updates then vola its updated!

People are going to want details.

What program did you use to format to fat32?
What program did you use to copy the downloaded image to the SD card?

Thanks and glad it is working. So far we have 1 that worked and one that didn't with apparently the same steps.

I used mini tool partition to format to fat32 because I had it open at the time. I'm sure you can just use windows. Then I simply use win32diskimager to copy over the image file.

The key might be that I used the original 183 sd card. Maybe something with that made it work?

Very curious. We definitely need more samples... Mine's a 184 so that doesn't help. I did attempt to duplicate it twice (once on Win, once on Mac) to a different card and it failed, though whether it was due to the card not being Toyota or due to the card being a 32GB microSD instead of 16, I don't know. The latter shouldn't matter but who knows at this point.

    Tundra... Whoops.
I have the 0E182 sd card. I used dd (command line tool) to flash the 0E184 image to my 0E182 microsd card. It applied an audio system update, but then stated it could not read map data. Tried restarting and reinserting the microsd card, no difference. Flashed my backup image (also made with dd) and was back up and running with my old map data.
