I'm wanting to get a camper shell for my mgm DC. Not a lot available locally. There is this white Leer. Owner says its in good shape, purchased last year, carpet interior and sliding glass. Thats all I know. Priced at $1000. Is it worth a grand. I'll have to have it painted too.
    Thanks!

At that price and needing to paint it no. At least when I called around you could get a color matched shell starting at 1200. But i picked mine up used on CL for 600 already color matching. It took a few months to find it but it was worth the wait to save. Don't be afraid to search further out. I drove about three hours to get it.

I'd jump all over a color matched shell for 600.
I'm going to pass on the one I posted. I found out it doesnt have sliding glass on the cab end.

I found a mgm Leer shell that would work for what I need. Its 6 hours away and they want 1000 for it. I priced a new one for 1280 otd this morning thats 1 1/2 hours away.
    Idk.... these things aren't cheap!

Assuming they are comparable shels, id go new 100%. let the dealer install it, plus have a warrenty, and same almost 5 hrs of driving.

I just bought a used Leer 100XL for $900. Came with a roof rack and front slider. I was getting local prices of $1800 for a new entry level cap so easy to go used for me. I drove 2 hrs to get it.

Used is great if it's worth who. $300 Is not enough to offset a warranty and all that drive time to me.
In my case I believe my shell would be around $2500 new (based off some internet searches) so $1600 savings for 1.5hrs driving was easy no brainer.
