Can anyone point me to identifying this part?

    BACKGROUND
I had some high pitched rattling in the engine compartment when I was accelerating for a few days. While driving it got significantly worse and then, "CLUNCK!" This fell out and onto the road. As far as I could tell, it was the only piece. But I only saw it in my rearview. Anyway, the rattle is gone. But ... I can't seem to find where this came from.

    Looks like a universal adapter.

Probably a dumb question, but what's a universal adapter adapt to?

Would seem like anything...being universal and all :goingcrazy:

(curious to know what it is)

Looks almost like something that holds a belt driven accessory. Or maybe bodywork? :notsure:

Definitely not a universal adapter, those are tightly controlled by the CIA. :tinfoilhat::spy:

Assuming you have a 3rz 2.7L motor, this is a bracket that mounts to the side of the cylinder head to support one of the chambers that's a part of the air intake. See the below pictures. Not a critical piece, but helps keep the intake tubing supported and away from the exhaust manifold.

That was my guess, but my adapter plate has holes in it and the resonator box on the intake has studs.

Oops, forgot to specify the engine.
    4 cylinder, 2.4 liter, 2RZFE

That part looks identical! Guessing it'll be the same. I've only really been searching for where it came from by looking underneath. I'll go check that area out this morning.

Yep. Just confirmed that that's the piece. Right under the second air inkake compartment. Found the bolt holes and the air intake compartment even has some grommet-like things that set perfectly onto that piece. So now to find another piece. Looks like mine came off because a support for the bolt broke off. Probably because the other bolt had fallen out.

    Thanks everyone for the identification!

For anyone interested, the part is called the "air connector stay" (according to Village Toyota Parts).
