I duck taped the remote unit to my wireless thermometer just to the side of the radiiator. It is a pretty acurate location, enven being held on with duck tape and not really designed for a vehicle.

If I recall correctly, both the engine control computer and the HVAC computer use the input from that sensor. I'd want it to be in an environment as close to the factory original location as possible.

The sensor is present in trucks that don't have the overhead temp/compass console. I am certain that it is used by the HVAC controller in '09+ vehicles. I think it is also used by the engine control computer. I'll look for documentation on both.

This is interesting. Thanks Lrgrnr. Anyone every have inaccurate readings for outside air temps? Mine seems always off compared to other vehicles, , my digital house thermometer, weather report, and my Bacharach field thermometer. My Taco (2006) temp is 5-8 degrees warmer when it is colder outside.
