    Rain Visors,
Hey guys, i want to get a headache rack, but not really feeling the $400 price tag. I have no problems building one, but mounting one is my issue. I was thinking remove the bed rail caps, and use 3x3 angle iron as a cap, with the 3" coming down into the bed, then build the rack off that, but what is under there? is there a sturdy enough mounting point to secure new rails that will also support the rack......I was going to get rid of my taco last week, for a 3/4 ton. But decided that with the right set up i could survive...just need to make it work now.

If you build it to fit tight then it will pretty much hold itself in place. I usually use three 3/8" bolts along the top of each bed rail just to keep it held on. The bed rail itself is strong enough to mount to.
