    Not to get technical, but your statement is not true 100% of the time. As load/rpm rise, intake VVT angles advance to the point where our engines do operate in OTTO mode.

    Lol, if someone is new to the world of 4 stroke internal combustion engines, I just figured a better place to start would be simple OTTO cycle with fixed valve timing. Variable compression engines with nifty cam phasers and such seem to be an advanced concept :)
