I just bought my first ever tacoma (2011 trd sport 4x4 with a 172,000 miles) and it was also my first vehicle purchase in about 8 years so this is a big deal for me! I definitely don't live your average life as I have been a seasonal dirt bag/ nomad for the past 10 years of life. My dream for becoming a tacoma owner is too eventually (hopefully soonish) purchase a light weight tow behind camper ( I have been eyeing up used scamps for years now). And eventually try living out of the truck and trailer combo year round. I have done a lot of cross country road trips in the past and love to explore while doing so. I don't think I will get into serious off roading anytime soon but I do love exploring BLM land and trying to find the most remote campsites possible. I work primarily in national parks during the summer and find whatever I can during the winter months. But yeah buying this tacoma is a huge step for me after having a really rough year this truck is allowing me to start to dream again. I grew up doing construction/carpentry and I'm pretty handy guy but I have a very basic understanding when it comes to auto mechanics. I'm definitely using this truck as a way to teach myself mechanics as I go. Anyways cheers, I'm happy I'm here in the forum, this seems like an amazing resource with a lot of knowledgeable people.
