Sounds more like the operators fault more so than the prerunners...

Maybe we should call them "idiots" and call the people who bought the PreRunner knowing it will never be a 4x4 "knowledgeable spenders."

Not sure where you find a 1st gen for 2500 bucks? If you do its not something you want to trust to get ya home. 30K on a truck to thrash off road is not much for some people. others it might as well be a million.

Prerunners are like the pretty girl in class: nice to look at but just not as much fun on a date.

4X4s are like the head cheerleader: also really pretty but likes to get dirty on a date!

Some people only have space for one vehicle, some people need it for work so it is basically a DD. I know people who have to drive way out into the bush without cell reception for work on roads they made. When it's cold as hell in the mountains I'll take a new Taco thank you

I trust my 1st gen as much as any new truck. But I didn't pay 2500.00 for it
I have been hours away from help and never was worried about my truck. But a 2500.00 truck good luck with that.

Myself, vancity 4x4, about 20 others in the first gen then the 25 or so I know in the second gen that have. 2 would be a couple, 3 would be a few, 4 is a bunch and anything 5 or over is a lot. So put that in your pipe. BOOM I JUST BLEW YOUR MIND. YEAH YEAH IT'S GETTING DONE TONIGHT SON. lmao

I totally agree with you. I really like first gens and I was looking for one but any in decent shape were like $12,000 up here so I just ended up in a 2nd gen.

Idk if you had yours since new or what but I was hesitant getting a vehicle that I didn't know much about the service history. For all I knew the guy before me could have skipped oil changes and never changed the diff fluid or whatever. That's all I was getting at.

I bought my truck used with 95K miles bone stock from an old guy who did not abuse it for 12K. Poor truck has now been cut up, beaten, abused and keeps on going. Toyota makes one hell of a truck 1ST GEN, 2ND GEN or the pre Tacoma trucks.
I like it when I do some trails and then watch the jeep guys take the bypass... Pisses them off a Tacoma did a trail they wouldn't ...

The way you got your truck sounds similar to mine tbh . I got mine for 16k from a older guy who kept it stock and did every service himself and logged it in that Toyota service log thing.

lol that reminds me of a trip we did down a trail. We went down this pretty challenging trail in the snow down a little stream and stuff and were shooting at some targets hours from a paved road. Some jeep club comes down the trail and were snobby as fuck about our tacos "luckily" making it down. We just laughed it off and went to the top of the trail to keep shooting safely.

About 2 hours later they came up and it turns out the guy with the biggest mouth jeep broke down and had to be winched to the side and left overnight, another had the clutch blow up and one was being towed... They didn't stop to chat and couldn't even look at us as they drove past LOL

Hey to each their own. I just like going places not just anyone could go.
You may go faster than me in the desert but you could never fallow me on the trail..

part of the fun is doing the mod.
just like I buy stock cars from the 40's and 50's and completely customize them.

I simply bought my Prerunner because I really did not need 4wd. And it was more than $3000.00 cheaper not to mention more Maintainance and repair. That being said I will get 4wd in my next Tacoma and I plan on buying it by Christmas hopefully. Unfortunately it will cost me somewhere in the neighborhood of 45K. I haven't seen prices on the new models yet. I can't tell you how happy I have been with my Prerunner. It has been a great truck and still have taken it in some hairy places and never got stuck even once. They are great in sand by the way.
