I want to get a lift so I can fit some bigger tires on my Tacoma but I don't want to spend a thousand plus just so I will get some "better ride quality" and the Rough Country lift looks good for the price. I might go offroading here and there but for the most part I will only be driving on the road. I just want to know why everyone hates this lift kit?

It's a big spacer lift, so it's fine for driving around on road, but it won't ride very good because you're out of your normal travel range up front, and big blocks under the leaf springs lead to axle wrap in the back.

block lifts are also really, really good at breaking u-joints offroad.

If you want some lift for cheap and you just drive around town, it'll probably do okay. But it is purely a looks thing - it will perform worse than stock.

Do it right the first time imo. You can even buy most of your parts here on the forums while spending probably more than the RC's lift, but not enough to break the bank.

I went with Rough Country on my F250. That truck was a pavement queen with the exception of some limestone boat ramps in the Florida Keys and horsing around. It rode rough. It didn’t offer much travel and it just wasn’t very comfortable. If you plan to use it for what these trucks are designed for, go with a better kit. If you don’t mind it being stiff but just want to look good, it has its place.
