    I have my antena mounted right behind the cab far left on drivers side. firstick FSII ...got the following readings....

    Channel 1 - 1.7
    Channel 19 - 1.1
    Channel 40 - 1.1

    Are these acceptable....??

    Just gonna be using the CB for convoy communication and trails.

    What are you all getting for SWR read outs and where do you have your CBs mounted?

    1.3

    Mounted on left vertical metal surface just inside tailgate where you have to remove left rear tail light to connect wiring.

    Mount is the firestik body side mount with a 3' firestik antenna. I keep a 4' under the bed mount for when I'm on trips. But it hits my garage door opening. Using Cobra 75 WXST. Have confirmed SWR using 3 different SWR meters an on my other two CBs I don't use that have SWR meters.

    Correct. If you're getting 1.1 on the channel you intend to talk on most, stop adjusting the antenna and/or anything else also. It doesn't get any better and most people do not ever achieve an SWR as good as 1.1.

    These would indicate your antenna is too short. Try raising it a bit. I adjusted mine tonight and had:

    1=1.3
    40=1.3

    Had to trim the antenna to get the readings just right.

    a linear amp :) google "cb radio" "linear"

    its an amplifier for cb radios, basically make it to where when you talk, NO ONE else can, you and friend across town can talk like your on a cell phone without any one walking over. you radio at max has 5watts, a linear will boost that up to 100watts-1600watts. find an old grey amp, pride amp, palomar amp, galaxy amp or sweet 16 :)

    or an old galaxy44 or galaxy88 they have 25watt built in,and are badass! LOL, we are coon-asses down here, still use cb's and smokey and the bandit is still in rotation on movie night :)

    something like this...

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Galaxy-DX-8...416229648?pt=US_CB_Radios&hash=item35e17b6f10

    now your talkin' :)
