15 miles one way, to the largest naval base in the country, with roads built for a much smaller poulation, you figure some numbers here, if there are 3 aircraft carriers in port, about 3000 ships crew on each (not including airwing) that is 9000 people, just three ships, there are a TON of ships there, and everyone has to be there at the exact same time, between 0700-0800. there are only a few gates open in the morning, and only a few ways to access those gates...

    yeah it sucks balls.

Yeah base traffic in the morning and in the afternoon SUCKS. All the things you mentioned along with the HRBT/Downtown/Midtown tunnels is pure hell for traffic.

I have had anywhere from a 10 minute to an hour and a half one way commute over the years. I was just relocated to Virginia and now I will have about a 35 to 40 minute commmute one way. I prefer to keep it under 20 minutes but right now it is the high cost of gas which is worrisome. Thanks to the libs the we are sunk.

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
If you would just live where you are based you wouldn't have this problem:D! On top of that, my weekly drive still tops that:p.

Started a new job yesterday which is nearly 70miles each way. $54 of gas in 2 days will eat up a paycheck real quick. I either need a company car to put the miles and fuel on or sell my truck and get something cheap and tiny. Don't think I could afford both for very long.
It sucks because this is a great job with room to move up, but its may cost me my truck...
Anyone want a 02 ext cab with a brand new frame, 5100s all around, ome 881s, wet okoles, a tri fold tonneau, and 76k miles? Bummer.

Used to be the quoted stuff.
Got a new job, which pays more, and a 5 mile trip which takes 12 minutes door-to-door. I love it.

My commute is 15.5 miles one way, 90% highway, piece of cake. I used to live in Orlando, Florida and worked downtown. My commute there was 12 miles one way and most of the time took one hour.....traffic nightmare everyday!

Job #1: 26 mile commute one way, mostly highway.
Job #2: 5.5 mile commute one way, all back roads, I have to stop once or twice.

They're the same job, but I work in two different locations as needed.

my commute consists of being in the car/motorcycle for no longer than 10 min (including getting in and out of the car) and most of that is due to lights. The mileage between my house and work is less than 2 miles :)
