I'm coming up on 65k. I have gone through a full tank in a singular drive less than a handful of times. In all that time, I have never looked at DTE until the low fuel light came on. I just doesn't matter for anything until about 1/4 tank left. Even then, if the driving environment changes, the prediction is going to be wrong.

Annnnnnd beyond all of that, as has been noted too many times, there is still 2gal remaining when DTE says 0mi left.

My tires are topped up at 32 and have a tonneau cover. I know for sure the cover helps as it stop the wind from pushing against the tailgate so it just bounces off the tonneau which helps with the mileage.

Since DTE is an average based on your driving habits these systems always have a built in buffer, so when you hit zero you generally have a gallon or two of fuel left in the tank. This keeps people who habitual run down to zero from ever harming the fuel pump/running out of gas.

    "Cruising range
Displays the estimated maximum distance that can be driven with the quantity of fuel remaining.
This distance is computed based on your average fuel consumption. As a
result, the actual distance that can be driven may differ from that displayed"

    Giddy up.

Yup. 21.1gal per the manual. That was to the first click, no topping off.

I think @NoOne saw 21.4gal to the first click?

Of course, a couple 0.10gal is a really small amount, easily affected by the angle of the Taco or the sensitivity of the nozzle shutoff among other variables.

Regardless, let's just say that I was puckered rolling into that station.

I did a simple test one time to see what it would take when it FIRST complains of low fuel…

    SURPRISE!

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
It was noted during a recent "Coast to Coast" out and back travel, that the "Miles till empty" reading adjusted it's self based on the previous travel mpg calculation.

When we hit the wide open spaces, and started driving the 85mph speed limit, the actual and calculated mpg plummeted. The subsequent fill up reflected the range based on that previous mileage.

"Typical" range display is 350 miles plus or minus. Whit the "recalculation" I saw range numbers as low as 265 miles. Here at home, with my usual driving, 350 is back. and that is about what I get.

So, to each their own ;-)

Correct, what we were initially trying to find out was what “reality” was; since the mileage and other variables were dynamic. The reality is that it’s counting down to 2 gallons and that you can hit “vapors”. Be educated if you’re going to gamble…

Maybe I'll run the old fashion miles divided by gallons, my truck seems to be a pig, I did change the tires out to General ATX's, and I run a bed rack, but I have never seen above 16.5 mpg. When towing I was in the 11-12 range. Oh well I guess, I didn't buy it for it's mileage (haha).
