Narrows is open! Doing part of that tomorrow, and if you’re asking about the canyon overlook trail, it said it was closed? But when we drove by it people were headed up there so I’m not sure. Today must have been the first day of non peak season so everything wasn’t updated yet

Unfortunately Grand Canyon is out on this trip due to time constraints. I want to see it so bad though. After tomorrow we are going to haul ass east and try to hit a few more parks on our way home. We have about 4 days to slowly drive home so I figured we could at least pass through a couple more.

Really just want to head up the east side of the state crossing my fingers it isn’t as boring as the west side

Edit: not sure why boring got autocorrected to Birmingham....

I like both, the nice part of hiking north side of the canyon is that it’s has so few people, you can hike sometimes a few hours and not see another person.

Me too! I’ll start my hike in 4 weeks. We’ll hike down Hermit’s Trail, spend one night at Hermit Creek, one night at Monument Creek, hike Tonto Trail and spend the night at Indian Garden. I did r2r two years ago, but I’m really anxious to spend some time on the threshold trails.

glacier is my favorite. barely any people

zion is treated like a fucking amusement park and yellowstone is the same, but for retired old people.

absolutely, the only place I'd actually camp in zion would be lava point

if I could make a recommendation to anyone that reads this, just go to lava point. you can get to the narrows and subway from there super-easy and the camping is decent. turkey, deer, bald eagles, all sorts of wildlife. beautiful views, and if the campground is full you can just stay at kolob reservoir up the road

I'll probably be a minority given that the highest point is 3', but, everglades. I camped there for a week and it was great.

if you get into the north rim early in the morning, look out for deer

on one drive in my wife stopped counting when she got to 200. and they're right on the grass strips next to the road

Yep. Zion and Yosemite are LOADED with people. I live 1.5 hours from Yose but rarely go due to the crowds.
