Canyonlands. White rim trail is fun. Elephant hill is some technical shit!! But those canyons are just incredible.

Crater Lake is a close second as it was in my backyard growing up. Lots of great memories in that place.

And I’ll just throw out Pompey’s Pillar NM. I know it isn’t a Nat. Park, but it’s where I’m currently stationed so it’s a special place for me too :p

Well. You would think and honestly traveling the 30+ mile dirt road, I saw a few vehicles. Once you get to the footbridge going to McCarthy and Kennicott Mine, their must of been a thousand people lol. It was tents and RVs all over. The path to the Glacier was packed full of people and that was a 2.5 mile hike. I suggest getting the shuttle from the foot bridge to the mine cause that's another 4.5 miles and it's only 15$ round trip. It was around 95 degrees in Alaska that day. Think it broke records.

I suppose it would be busy, especially with the short tourist season up there.
I would love to visit Kennicot, it's on my short list...

A buddy and I attempted Shasta around 2002 or so. We were awoken at midnight to 55 mph winds with an -18 wind chill. Needless to say, we hauled ass outta there...

I'll add another Canadian one to the list. Pacific Rim National Park. Tofino, Long Beach and Ucluelet. One of my favorite places in the world. It's like being on another planet.

The only thing I remember about Crater Lake is the moment you stop the car and park there, your windows go black with mosquitos. Walking around outside, a lot of snorting and swallowing mosquitos too.

I second Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. I just got back from a backpacking trip where I got dropped off in a bush plane and hiked for 6 days straight without seeing any other parties on our trail. https://www.tacomaworld.com/media/albums/goat-trail-wrangell-st-elias-national-park.54725/

No I haven't...I'm personally not a big hiker but my dad is, so he occasionally talks me into going with him lol.

It probably had something to do with the fact I was there in July. When I was in the arctic circle two winters ago, I was surprised to learn that in the summer the place is swarming with mosquitoes. I'm sure if you go when it's colder, there'll be less chance of running into them.

In the winter or very early spring the Everglades in Florida and further north the Okefenokee in Georgia. During spring and fall the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Those are the ones I frequent.

It's great following this topic. I love national parks. I've visited about 20 of them and they're all great for their own reasons.

We just rounded out a trip a week ago driving from Seattle->Grand Canyon north rim->Zion->Yosemite->Lake Tahoe and back.

Grand Canyon is my favorite National Park. And it was my 2nd visit to the North Rim - I like it better than the more popular south rim and one day I'll go with the Taco, there's supposed to be some offroading available. If you have kids or like looking at the stars, you owe it to yourself to visit one of their star parties.

Pictures of folks gathering for the star party

My first time at Zion. A really nice, but didn't budget enough time. There was chance of thunderstorms so the Narrows were closed. Did a bunch of shorter hikes instead. This is taken near the weeping wall.

And Yosemite. Probably 30 years since I've been there and it was good to get re-acquainted. Here's a shot from Glacier Point looking towards half dome with Yosemite Valley below. Pictures don't do it justice!

Other places I had mentioned previously:
Yellowstone is awesome and we're probably going again next year:
    Yellowstone falls:
And the edge of the giant prismatic spring

I mentioned Canadian National Parks before and here's a view down to Banff. This was during wildfires and it's a bit smokey. But as you can see that's the town of Banff and outside of hiking it's the bulk of what there was to do there. In way it was good that there was a variety of restaurants and stuff for the nights we didn't want to cook over the campfire.
