After a year without a Tacoma I'm finally back in the game. Sold my '08 prerunner last July and have been itching for another Tacoma ever since. If it would have been 4x4 would have never sold it. After searching for a few months I finally found one that fit everything I was looking for. 2012 4x4 that somebody had put a lot of money into. The best I can tell is it has the Toytec boss suspension with 3" lift and leveling kit. 275/70R18 Toyo open country M/T, XD series rims and a Ranch Hand that doesn't have a scratch on it. Rims aren't my favorite but the truck still looks good. Now here's the issue, I drive about 80 miles a day and after topping off yesterday and then again today my MPG was 15.01!!!!! Damnit man, guess I wasn't expecting it to be that low. So what's your mpg and how close of a set up to mine is it. Trying to figure out if I need to start removing the ranch hand, tool box etc... Thanks for your replies. IMG_0620.jpgIMG_0618.jpg

    • 3-4" lift
    • 285/75/R16 MT/Rs
    • Skids, Sliders, rear bumper
    • 75% city driving on a hilly route

Don't base it off just a tank or two... but either way, SWEET ride.

I get about 280-320 miles per tank with a similar setup to yours. So 18-19ish mpgs. I fill up right when the gas light comes on and it usually accepts 17-18 gallons

Don't forget also that you truck's odometer is calculating that distance based upon the smaller tires your truck came with ... so your MPGs are a little better than you think.

Thanks for the reply boogie. Just purchased the vehicle Monday night and today was the first time I could check it. My drive is all 4 lane open road. Not really hilly at all. I really took it easy on the home this evening. Hopefully the next check will be much better. I could def deal with it if I can get close to 18.

Do you have a heavy foot? I'll define "heavy" as anything over 2000 rpms for a Tacoma.

I wouldn't say I have a heavy foot. I really paid attention to that after I checked it today tho.

Even a medium foot will kill your MPG in a Tacoma.

Nice vid boogie. I do pay attention to that tach and am constantly watching it always trying to keep it as far below 2000 as I can. Even when trying to be easy with it today it stayed just slightly under 2000. Hopefully with a little more practice I can get it a little closer to 1500. Thanks for all the info.

In a mix of town/highway, I get around 17. On highway trips, I can squeeze out 19.
I check mine every tank and usually fill up at the same gas station.
