15 pretty consistently. Lots of stop and go. Even my highway driving has lots of stop lights.

Not sure what drugs some are on here or if gasoline is really that much worse in California!??

I have had three Tacomas, all V-6, all 4x4, all automatics, and all the Off Road TRD. My last two were Double Cabs (2005, 2010) and the first one was an Xtra Cab (2001).

While I have exceeded 20 MPG (never over 21) maybe fewer times than the number of fingers I have, this is the exception. Happens with no load, highway driving under 65 mph, often on Mexican or Arizona gasoline (no ethanol dilution).

The norm (around town and highway 50/50) or close, and my mileage is always 14-16 mpg.
The typical highway mileage can be 17-18 if I don't push it. Rare times I see 19 point something.
If only city driving, then 13-14! This is dry weather, 2WD, San Diego weather.

Now, I can bump the numbers up a tad if I correct for the 265/75-16 tires that slow my odometer down about 3.5%... Every 30 miles of actual distance it is 1 mile too slow.

So, when I am down near the 'E-Light On zone' (17 gallons used/ 4 in the tank), and 250 miles are on the trip odometer (zeroed at last fill up) that is 14.7 mpg.

I really traveled closer to 259 miles giving a true 15.3 mpg.

Lift is minor, Bilstein 5100s at the 0.85" lift in front and Ride Rite air bags in back, 2" lifted, maybe?

Then that is not "highway driving" no matter what the road is called.

I need to book mark this thread for every time I want to buy a lift and bigger tires. I'm rolling a bone stock PreRunner DCSB TRD Sport. I get 20 mpg out of every tank. That's mainly highway, but often 80+ mph.

Stock everything with 265/70/17 Falken Wildpeak getting 280-300 miles before the gas light turns. I was getting 250-260 before changing the spark plugs.

I think a lot of it has to do with the tires but can't believe anyone that gets anything rally past 15 if they went bigger with tires. Running give or take 3" lift, 285/70/17 E rated tires (this is probably the big killer), few hundred lbs of skids, sliders and I am lucky to get 15 mpg. Going with a skinnier tire like a 255/85/16 or 255/80/17 or 265/70/17 etc will help return some mpg from what I have read from folks that have gone back and forth.

My average in the last two years (11,500 miles) is 13.9mpg. That's with a 3.5"ish lift, 285/75/16s, front bumper, sliders, roof rack, RTT over the bed, towing snowmachines and four wheelers, having kayaks on the rack, etc. Lots of idle warm up time in the winter at -40° and short in town trips. Straight highway miles without towing I usually get around 16-17mpg.

mines shit but thanks for asking!

but in all seriousness I think i'm between 250-280 miles (converting from Canadian km's) to a tank, mixed 50/50 freeway, city and wheeling all in there. 3 inch lift, bumper, 265/70/17's. I should get my diesel running again if I wanted a better daily commuter!

A few additions to make me feel cool.
I have 3" OME lift with plate bumpers front and rear, winch and loaded toolbox plus 3/16 steel skids and I get 17ish after changing front and rear difs and transfer case to amsoil. Was 15.5 to 16 prior to that.

And I drive like a dick head.

About 17-18mpg. This is based on GPS miles using my Garmin nuvi. Lots of 80+mph driving. Stock height and tires. A/C on. Empty bed.

15'dcsb 4x4. 265-75-16 Duratracs. During hunting season I drive 55 miles one way to the property. It's 2 lane and I have one town to drive through. I routinely get 360-370 miles before the light comes on. Hell last weekend I got a little over 300 miles, and 50 of that was pulling my 18ft ski boat in 4th gear.

You've gotta be talking about an automatic transmission here. I never shift my truck UNDER 2000 RPM and I average 18-19 mpg.

Pretty much the same set up as yours with a plate bumper on the rear and sliders.

    14.5 town
    17.8 hwy

I never thought these numbers at all possible seeings as how my truck is Supercharged but a feather touch on the gas pedal made all the difference.
