Thanks, I just got so tired of listening to people, and just started doing, I knew what was in my heart, it was really quite easy.

This was in the 60's-70's in Itasca, Ill. a small town of 1400 at the time. That parish is still there too! The worst part of it all was my parents allowed this stuff! With the exception of that gym teacher who got my Dad in his face that day. Being a good person comes from within you. You either make it a practice to battle the evils that surround us-or you make it a practice to 'entertain' the dark side more. As you said, you and I had different experiences with the church-yet we have the same intentions towards life and people:)

Do you have any idea how many times I've been told I'm going to Hell??!! LOL!

The popular label that comes the closest to what I believe spiritually is Solitary Witch. Okay, let the jokes begin.....I can take it!

There's not a damned thing wrong with that! You are probably very much at peace with this world, I would imagine.

Believe me when I say I was not here to start something to upset you or anyone, I am just curious and find what people hold dear to them very interesting, what strength they have standing there saying "I am this"

    Because I'm a (B)Witch, lol! Harry Potter didn't help....LOL!

I know that no one meant any harm--I am wary of "opening up a can of worms" sometimes from a bad experience a few years back on another message board. I do not hide what I believe in real life.

It is a natural religion in many ways. I believe in peace in all things and harmony between living creatures, but I do know that there is evil in the world, and I also believe in fighting that any way one must. There is a time and a place for everything. I believe in reincarnation--this is but one life on the Path, and I have much to learn and a long way to travel. That's a little bit of what I believe just to clarify.

With tolerance comes peace, I don't know who said it, but I like it.

No jokes from me! I dated a practicing Wiccan (sp?) a few years back, is it related to that in any way? Don't feel obligated to explain, of course. I'm just curious.

    I was raised Catholic.

I stopped practicing when I moved out of the Bible Belt. Recently, I decided to check out every other religion (and christian denomination). I don't like any of them. I believe in people being good. I believe there is much in the universe that I will never understand, and to that point I cannot say I know if there is a God or not. I believe there can be, but I find that most forms of worship I don't understand or relate too.

I guess I still consider myself Catholic as I went through Confirmation at 18...

I too will raise my kids Catholic as religion instills values, beliefs, and morals that are essential to the upbringing of a child into adulthood. Beyond that, I expect my children to come to their own conclusions.

...good thing I don't have kids, huh? Guess my dogs better start prayin'. :p

Thanks guys--you all seem a very tolerant bunch. I just didn't want to start a war. And yes MM, for the most part, I am very much at peace with this world. Everything happens for a reason whether we know it or not. Ripples in a pond connecting.
