Ot wont change it much believe it or not. Especially with 35's, you'll pry stay fairly close to what your pushing now. I run 33's with 5.29's and at 75 im running 3100 or so...

Well when you jump up in tire size it helps to "catch up to" the gear change, if that makes any sense? Thus not seeing a major rpm change that i think you're expecting.

So for example....in my first post i said im running 33's, if i were to jump to 35's my rpm @75mph would drop slightly from what it is at runnin 33 inch tires.

Oh you already even have 35's hu? And runnin 2500. I bet youd be around to 2900 or so with 4.88 and 35" @75.

But yeah, figure out your current gear ratio and use the link posted below with your tire size and 4.88. Thatll get ya spot on.
If you have 4.10 or lower currently you really wont gain a whole lot of rpm at speed though.

My experience has been from manual trucks not auto, so take that into account.

IIRC you'll be about 3% taller with that then 31's/4.10's.

Do you have the auto trans? Or are you a 5 speed?

On mine, 4.88s on 33s with the auto, I am at 2500 rpm at 70 mph (GPS checked). This combo brought the power band back very close to stock. It drives very nice. No more hunting for gears and no more downshifting at the slighted grade.

However, if I were to go up higher in tire size to 35s, 4.88s would not be enough. Unless your are supercharged, I would go 5.29s if I had 35s. It is because of the gearing in the auto. The RPMs with the auto are quite a bit lower than with the manual trans.

A 5 speed manual might be able to get away with 4.88s and 35s but my friend @Blackdawg is a v6 with 5-speed manual on 35s and is very happy he went with 5.29s.

    Wouldn't do it.

    5.29s all the way.

Yea okay, at 75mph I am at like 3300rpm. But the 5vz doesn't mind and i can literally ACCELERATE up hill in 5th! Plus, 4lo is amazing. But im a manual.

For an auto, 4.88s and 35s will be under geared. 4.88s with 33s and an auto is almost just like stock.

Go 5.29s if you want to take strain off your rig and drive line. Would not do 4.88s.

im on 35s with 5.29 on auto tranny... at 70mph (GPS calibrated as the stock speedometer is off due to the tire size) RPMs are in the 2800-3100 range on flat level concrete... any incline and it starts pushing into the 3300-3500 range to maintain 70-75...

but my truck is a lot heavier than most here so not sure how accurate my info would apply to anyone else's rig...

Yea with any sort of of extra weight. The 5.29s really help.
