Nope, our registration fee is just that high.

My mistake, I keep saying mine is $369, it's actually $319.

    Registration due = $369

    Registration fee = $69
    License Fee= $140
Weight Fee = $80 (this is what is taken off when registered as a pesonal vehicle instead of commercial)
    County/Distric Fee = $10
    Smog Abatement Fee = $20

So you see, even though the actual registration fee is a mere $69, we cannot just pay that part. It's $369 to get the tags. YEARLY!

Nope! My property taxes are separate from car registration fees. Live in Arizona. The first year for my 06 was $450 to register mine. Now it's $100 plus a $25 customized plate fee.

In Cali if you get a shell and go with non-commercial registration. You need to leave the shell on. If for some reason law enforcement checks your registration it will tell them commercial or not. And they can cite you for not having the shell on.
This happened to a buddy of mine when he took his shell off for a few weeks to haul some stuff around.

Our registration fee is not bad, but they throw on the "vehicle licensing fee" which is a property tax on the vehicle.

My wife's '04 Rav4 is now pretty close to the minimum at around $100.
My two old Honda CB750s are around $70. My Vulcan is over $100, but I have environmental (personalized) plates.

Another way around it is if you or your partner are disabled, put the DP plates on the truck and use the mirror hang-tag for the regular car/SUV.
My parents did that... I fucked up when my wife got her DP plates and didn't stop her before she put them on the Rav.

It's not there property tax it's there school taxes they are paying. Some states don't have a school tax. It comes out of there vehicle regs. I would gladly pay a higher vehicle regs in stead of a $4,000 dollar a year school tax.

Yep, it's that VLF that's more than the actual registration fee that gets us plus all the other fees they add on to it. VLF is tax deductible though... Have not yet done so. I heard they look closer at your taxes if you have deductibles.

$1.00, active Military stationed in Wyoming and vehicle was registered in SC when I was stationed there. Soldiers and Sailors Relief act, if active and haven't done this I suggest you look it up. My Wife's 2010 Murano was done the same way and saved us some decent change.
