I recently bought some 18x9 wheels for my Tacoma off of someone I know and trust and he was told they were off a Chevy but after I tried to put them on they turned out to be for an f-150, I still want to run them as I’m $350 into them with near new tires on all four so can I buy some adapters for a Silverado to ford use and have my machinist buddy bore the inner hub to the correct 106mm fit my truck and will I run into issues with the lug nuts seating on the axle side since the adapter is for m14x1.5 threads and my axle has m12x1.5

Or should I buy some non hub centric adapters with a 108mm inner bore and m12x1.5 threads and machine a press fit insert to put into the adapters that has the fords 87.1mm hub and then weld in the inserts to the adapter.

I just want to ask before I do anything as I don’t want to waste my money or have my wheels fall off.

Also how do I cheaply correct my speedometer for the tire size difference.

Personally, ask your friends for a refund. If not, sell it and save yourself the trouble.

That’s what I’m going to do if I can’t make it work, but I’m asking how to make it work best.

Get rid of them and get ones that fit. It will cost more to make them fit than to get something that actually works correctly.

Where am I going to find wheels and tires like that for that price? The adapters are $115 for four and I have $350 into the wheels and near new tires.

Marketplace. Keep the tires and watch for new wheels.

18s are scarce where I live unless they are Silverado stocks, that is why I want to try this.
Also on another note even if I find wheels with the right lug pattern I will still have to buy adapters to get the right hub size. People near me want $1,500 for a set of four rims that will work on my 106mm hubs and I can’t afford that

    This is the easiest way.

Most wheel spacers use conical seat lug nuts on the vehicle hub side, so M12 conical seat lugnuts should work.

What offset are the Ford wheels and how thick of an adapter are you planning to use? If the adapter is less than 1.25", make sure the wheel has relief pockets between lug holes to accommodate stud protrusion.

I plan to use a 1.5” adapter, I don’t know the offset but it looks like it is about 4.5 from the front lip to the mounting flange

Never mind It quit raining and the backspacing now that I checked is the same as my old rims.

Okay adapters have been ordered and just in time as I finally swapped to the wheels and tires off a 98 4Runner in parting out and it turns out my highway vibration is from one of the old wheels.

Forgot to mention why it was shaking, it is slightly bent but still in balance somehow so the tire shop never noticed.

    Couple of things.

Thing 1: An honest mistake was made, see if he will make it right, if not, not sure to tell you how to proceed with that.

Not all wheels are the same. Toyotas are different. So, even if you got adapters to fit them they would probably vibrate.

    Thing 2: https://www.discounttire.com/learn/hub-centric-vs-lug-centric

I got some adapters that are hub centric but they have the wrong inner hub diameter for $110 and I have a machinist friend that will machine out the inner hub from the Silverado hub size to the correct 106mm for my Tacoma.
I am going this route as I didn’t want to get some adapters custom made for $350-$500 as I don’t have that kind of money just laying around.

Read the linked stuff and thanks for the info, I did measure a while back and these wheels are actually hub centric which is another reason why I want to have a hub centric adapter as well as how much I use this truck as a truck, to do truck stuff like hauling and towing.

Yeah this is the average reaction to my ideas, I don’t present them in a way that makes it seem like I did some thinking about it beforehand.
