I just recently joined this TW group to learn from those who have been there, done that so here's my first thread. My 2009 Tacoma 4 X 2 Access Cab, 4 cylinder, 4 speed automatic has the base 215/70R/15 footprint, which doesn't really fit the ratio appearance wise comparing it to the access cab area, so I'm thinking whether it would be better (safety first) to change over to some 16, 17 or 18 inch wheels onto the 5 X 4.5 stud setup or to install wheel adapters that will take it from 5 X 4.5 to a 6 X 5.5. There seems to be more choices of wheels with the 6 stud setup. If anyone here has done what I'm thinking about doing, please share your thoughts. Thanks

I would stay away from the adapters. Going from a 5 to 6 lug will require a 2 piece adapter. There are places that make them, but they just look iffy to me.
This is a place that makes them:

You can see that its two halves that are bolted together. That just doesn't sound safe to me. Just my opinion.

Thanks mojojojo78, I saw some (set of 4) on Amazon for like $130 but they also add 2 inches in thickness. Thanks for your input. I'm in no hurry so yours is the 1st response so I've got a long way to go before deciding.
