I'm not sure what it came with factory, assuming 285 or 31s but mine is 2wd(I plan on doing a 4wd conversion in the fall) but right now there are 235s on with the stock rims that I desperately need to upgrade!! lol

Hmm, probably. I'm not positive on those wheels. I have the stock wheels, but I can't remember the measurements of them.
The common consenus is yes, you might just have to cut a little bit of plastic. You might need wheel spacers to not rub the frame, but it depends on if you get skinny 33"s or wide 33"s

Welcome to TW - I also have the 2.7 W/ auto trans, 4x4 -4.56 gears - I'm running 16"x8" Toyota alloy wheels w/ 245/70/16 Cooper Discoverer AT3's-This size works well with the 2.7 ,Auto Trans & gearing.

3" Toytec spacers, Bilstein 5100s in the back with add a leaf and overloads removed.
285s would be a good choice too. 285/75r16s are like a 33 1100 and with aftermarket wheels shouldn't rub too bad of at all

To reduce (maybe avoid entirely ?) rubbing, you could go with a narrower 33" tire, like 255/85r16 ( 33x10 )

Is there anyway to do a 3" lift and avoid rubbing with 33's? Without going with the skinnier tires? Spacers?

Before you buy parts and spend money, why don't you make a plan?

If converting to 4WD, don't do anything, lift or otherwise, until you've successfully completed that massive undertaking. THEN see what you need to finish it up well. I'm also assuming you've got the space, tools and skills to pull this off, since it's not exactly a novice undertaking?

As a 2wd 4banger (non pre runner?) the 235's G-pa installed are just right. Get bigger, it turns into a pig. And w/o regearing (an expensive game) you can't 'fix' that.

My general suggestion is enjoy it like it is for a while. Learn what it will and won't do, learn how to get it unstuck when you stick it, and learn how to avoid getting stuck the next time.

Then figure how you are going to use the vehicle 80% of the time, and build for that. If you don't, you'll be less that satisfied during 80% of your use of the truck.
