I recently bought a 2007 Tacoma sr5 4x4 access cab with a 3" lift. It currently has oversize chrome rims with 255/50/19 tires that came with upon purchase. What size rims and tires would be a good fit?

if you want the biggest you can probably fit without doing anything else... 265/75r16 or 265/70r17. 265/70r16 or 265/65r17 are the largest OEM sizes. You might also think to just grab new takeoffs from a 3rd gen tacoma, people are getting rid of them all the time for pretty cheap. The rims look pretty good on the 2nd gen too.

Downsize the wheel size to 16” or 17” to allow for more tire. Good all around tires for your needs will be all-terrains, conveniently labeled lol

Similar to what the others have recommended... I'd step down to a 16" or 17" and then get some good All-Terrain tires. If you get the right ones they should be quiet enough on-road but still capable in other conditions without being a dedicated mud, rock crawling...etc type tire. But really it depends on what you're looking for. You said mostly on-road but are there other things you're looking for? A specific aesthetic? Lightweight setup for mpg...etc?

Adding to the mentioned road comfort, OP try not to go beyond a C-load tire. Trust me and my E-rated boulders lol

Are you going to stay with the current lift?

Do you know what the components are, and if the UCAs have been upgraded?

If it's just spacer stuff, how many miles are on the truck, and does it appear to have the original shocks (which may need replacement)

As far as wheels, I agree that a set of 3rd gen take offs would be a great deal and look nice.

And for your described use of the truck, look at a set of Michelin Defenders for the tires. Size will be determined by the wheel fitment and if you ultimately chose to tinker with the suspension.
