You would want an 8" wide wheel with between 4.5 and 5.5" of backspacing.

Awesome thanks...what would you say about a wheel spacers? I want the tires to stick out a little. Nothing too crazy maybe 1/2 inch to an inch or so. With the 8" wide wheels do youthink they would do that without the spacers?

That depends on what backspacing you get. The 4.5" will stick out an inch more than the 5.5".

So the 5.5 will be flush with the fender then?

285/70/17 if you are willing to do some trimming. 265/70/17 if not.

off set and back spacing are two different things.

off set pertains to the wheel's center chunk design and the coning of that.
^ commonly a requirement/concern to clear brake calipers.

back spacing pertains to the off set of the wheel's inner bead...
    in relation to the hub.

I have a 2000 std cab 4x4 that I bought a 3" cornfed suspension lift for. In an effort to save a little cash I was looking for used wheels. I found a set of Mickey thompsons 16x8. Dudeman on Craigslist said they were 4.5" backspaced. In reality, they are only 3" and I forgot to measure them when I bought them just took his word.

My issue now is that I bought wheels that stick out 2" past my fenders. Is there any tires I can get that don't budlge out at the side wall to make them flush with the wheels or just barely off. Or would that whole combo look dumb? I would like to get 33's. Thanks

what is the width of the wheels. That will determine how wide of a tire you can run on it.

3" backspacing is waaaay too little for a second gen though.

They are 16x8, I guess I'm going to try and get rid of them because of being too little backspacing.
