Wheel Backspacing and Offset Info

Will the method 301's in a 16x8 clear my calipers.
4.5" backspace 0mm offset
This will be on 285/75/16 with 3" lift.

Appreciate the help KPT. I think ill just sell my tires. That seems easier at this point. Go back to 275s.

 

Going to go from my stock 16x7 wheels (4.5'' bs) to p/c 7069 15x8. It is offered in 3.75'' backspacing, how much wider would my stance be? Tried to make sense of the diagram on page 1 but not sure how everything moves relative to the wheel width.

 

1.75 wider at the outer edge of the wheel.

 

Thanks for the reply. That makes sense but it sucks bc that is not the look I'm going for. Sounds like wheels would stick out too far. Guess I won't be getting those now.

hey thanks for the link. Helped in some areas and not others. I get how dimensions are being measured now, just uneasy with how it will play out. I have seen 3.75'' BS rims mounted on the same truck that I have but they dont look like they have caused a 1.75'' wider stance on each side... can offset be different from 2 different rims (with same BS) and account for this? From diagram in your link, I would say yes. -19mm offset is ~.75'' difference from a 0mm offset rim and maybe that was what I was seeing. if you follow my thought process here

 

Can anyone send me the link on what I would need to do to mount 16" TRD FJ wheels on my 2012 Tacoma? Spacers? Any problems?

 

No spacers/rubbing/trimming.

In the chart above, follow the column down from your Backspace of choice,
and you will see that the Offset changes with the "Wheel Width".
But different Manufacturer's Wheels with the same Backspace and "Rim to Rim" width should have the same Offset.
Same Width and Same Backspace = Same Offset

i have tried figuring this out all day and im really not sure. can some please tell me the proper backspacing/offset i will need to run 17" x 8.5" wheels, with 265/70/17 tires and have no rubbing issues? i have 5100's set at 1.75".
i don't mind if they stick out a little bit farther then the fender flares but legally it really isn't supposed too, so i might be able to get away with a little bit.

so if im looking at wheels and it says "17X8.5 6-139.7 -10" is there a way to tell what the backspacing is?
i think im getting confused with the two (offset/backspacing) trying to figure out what would work.

edit: so by looking at the little chart, having 4.5" to 5.5" of backspacing, i will need and offset of between 0-12?

im worried about rubbing on my uca since i am already quite close with the stock wheels, and also worried about rubbing because of the wheels sticking out to far.

 

The 8.5" is the width, and the -10 is the offset. Backspacing varies depending on both offset and width. Those in particular are approx 4.25" bs. They will be fine for the uca but might require some trimming because of the 4.25" bs pushing them out too far.

I assume you are talking about the stock dunlops? as per the dunlop website, 245/75/16s are not approved for 8.5" wide wheels
