+18mm would give 5.75" backspacing; stock is 5.5". You might have spindle or a-arm clearance issues; but you might get away with it on 265s, depending on the tire.
The tire will protrude about a 1/2"; you shouldn't have any problems with cab interference. It adds 1/2" of positive scrub radius.

-12mm would give you 4.5" backspacing. This would make the tire protrude about 1.5". You will probably have cab interference with these.
It adds 1.5" of positive scrub radius.

Anyone have info on this wheel? I might get a set if 285's fit without spacers.

    Edit: They're 17x7.5 +15mm.

    Should fit 285s fine.
It'll have 1" more poke and 15mm less backspace than stock.

    I was thinking...

305's with a 0 offset are very close to the UCA, I can't fit a finger between the two. A 285 is 20mm less wide, only giving 10mm more space between the tire and UCA., Then the new wheel with a 15mm offset leaves 5mm less space than there is now...

offset? I am thinking about replacing my stock 17" rims with the black SEMA 4runner TRD style rims. Everything I know about rims I've learned in the last few days trying to figure this out. The stock rims have 30mm offset. These new rims have 0,4, or 5 depending on which ebay listing I look at. I've read somewhere that you should not vary the offset by more than +-5MM from stock when you get replacements.

So I'm confused because I see a lot of people putting these rims on their Taco but if you're supposed to stay close on the offset then these are a bad choice?

    Offset by itself means nothing...
You must consider the width; it changes things.
The 5mm rule your alluding to probably has to do with scrub radius. It would only apply if you kept the same rim width and tire size.
What size tires are you going with?

265/70 I think, if they don't rub without any lift modification or removing flaps, etc.

Silly question: the lugs from my sport wheels should fit any of the other TRD wheels, correct?

im running 275/70 17 at3.coopers on the SEMA..rims,,, with quite a bit of room to spare.
just purchased a set of ....
17 X 8.5 ...... BS..4.30 .offset..-10mm.. opinions on weather this size tire will be ok.. i have a 5th, 275/70 17 tire mounted on my spare rim, brand new,, i thinking about having it taken off, and mounted on one of the new rims to see if it clears,,, before i decide on a tire and size,, im thinking with the wider rim, the 275 might just clear.

Rimy and tire will be about 1/4" closer to suspension; tire will poke about 1/2".

i thought with the rim being 1 1/2 in wider they would poke out more..

It will; by about 1-1/4". The tire will only poke about 1/2" though. It's from putting tires on rims with other than the measured rim width. It changes the section width.

    A 275 70 17 has a measured rim width of 8". They fit different on a 17x7 or 17x8.5 rim.

I'm looking at Method NV wheels on a 2003 Prerunner with ko2 265/70 16 tires, I'm still doing a lot of searching and found these on a lot of second and third gens. Looking at 16x8, looks like they have a 4.5 backspace and 0mm offset, and stock wheels are 16x7, 4.5 backspace 15 mm offset. Anyone see any issues using these or know why theres not many 1st gens with them other than preference? Thanks!

I'm gonna chime in and ask can I run a 18x9.5 Vrock recoil with -5mm and 5 inch backspace with a 285/65/18? Can I run that even on a 17 taco sr with 3in lift and level?
