    Hey guys,

Made a recent post about some issues with the truck, thanks to those who responded. Turns out my front driver side wheel bearing is bad, going to be replacing both sides soon.

My question being is, they quoted me $500 for parts and labor for one side for an easy fix. I’m going to do this myself but have no press, so i’m going to just buy the full assembly instead so I dont bother with pressing them out or in.

With this being said, does anyone have any recommended full wheel bearing assemblies that have worked good for them?

I have a 2014 2WD tacoma with 1.25 inch spidertraxx hub centric spacers.

    Thanks guys!

Guy on here makes them. Then there are several aftermarket ones out there like dormant, carquest, etc. I'm running the carquest ones currently and they are doing ok no real long term experience I was stuck and needed some.

That's not an awful price, it's a pretty labor intensive process.

$500 for 1 side on a prerunner? Pass. After you pull the wheel off, it's 7 bolts.

Can't comment on quality cos they haven't even arrived yet but I just bought a pair of API hub assemblies off rock auto for $95 each. Hoping that was a good deal because it's going to be my Christmas present!

Edit, my bad - just saw you said 2wd. The APIs are a wholesaler closeout for 4wd only

It's the pressing in and out that's labor intensive. Charge shop rate at the book time and that's where the money is

And a replacement bearing is $375, it's worth $125 to have someone pull wheel (6 torqued nuts), caliper (2 torqued bolts), possibly knuckle (2 torqued bolts), bearing (4 hard to reach torqued bolts). I will admit I've only done it on a 4wd but it wasn't fun.

I've gotten good at hand tools only doing them on the trail or in a parking lot.

Not very hard, just labor intensive.

If you are replacing the whole.assembly and not pressing anything it isn't that labor intensive.

We have different definitions of the term then, I'd call a complete disassembly of your front suspension labor intensive.

Oh ok. Yeah I don't take anything but the caliper off and the axle nut and bolts for the bearing assembly. Nothing else needs taken off.
