Just had my truck aligned and the alignment shop said my driver's side wheel bearing is making noise. I got home and jacked it up. Sure enough there is a weird metal sound when rotating the wheel.. almost like little metal pins rolling around.

So the alignment shop wants to charge me $475 to do one wheel! That's insane.

Has anyone used these complete assemblies on eBay?

Also, should I go ahead and replace both front wheel bearings at the same time?

So should I just replace the one making noise or both?

Whether you replace one or both is up to you, but don't buy stuff from Fleabay. Support a TacomaWorld Brother and it's cheaper

That would depend on what kind of owner you are. I'd say if one side went then the other is soon to go. I just went through the same thing and did both sides to be thurough. Steep bill but now you'll rest assured for another 100k

And apparently unpressing from the hub the od bearings and repressing on new bearings is totally acceptable without issue. As I found out only AFTER listening to a Toyota mechanic buddy and buying all new hubs to press onto as well. Could've saved a few hundred bucks there.

Just do one side. I've rarely seen bearings fail in pairs.

Just be prepared for a battle to get the old hub out of the knuckle. Lots of PB blaster and quality time with a dead blow hammer.

Invest in a bearing puller set and a breaker bar.

I don't mind supporting a fellow tacomaworlder. Just trying to figure out the best way to do it.

Thanks for the info. Actually picked up one of those bearing pullers from HF a few months ago. Glad I'll get to put it to use!

I just did my Wheel bearing hubs. I did both sides at the same time for 556.00 not worth just doing one side. my truck free wheels so much better. I did a lot of home work on this and on a two wheel drive it was supper ez to do. I did it just last weekend.
