So I have removed the wheel bearing and hub assembly and behind the bearing where the CV comes in just looks awful. There is a seal that goes in there correct? an anyone shed light on the seal install, I am, is there a seal that needs replaced on the outer CV that need replaced

I replaced driver-side some time ago. As I recall, I removed lower BJ, by unbolting the two bolts, not by removing BJ from knuckle. I also removed the tie rod, and I think the sway bar link at the knuckle. This will allow you to swing the knuckle away from the CV axle so you can knock out the seal, which I believe was pressed into the rear of the knuckle. Installing it can be tricky - I didn't want to bang on it as the seal can be bent. I made up my own little press using a large c-clamp and piece of 1x3 over the seal . I sanded the contact point and used a little lube. Once the seal is in place, you want to avoid having the axle lean on the seal as in the top photo - that can damage the seal. There is also an O-ring that goes on the bearing assembly. See pic in link below.

There are two seals on the back side - one on the outboard CV joint as you mentioned and photographed, and another that fits into the back of the spindle bore, that chuy mentioned.

Thanks for the response. How does that CV seal come off? Tap it off etc. I understand that it's a "stealership" only part (90304-A001)

I think I just knocked mine off with a punch and a hammer. And yes, dealer only that I could find for that one.

Just want to thank you again for the response. I got the inner tapped out and everything cleaned out, also got the CV dust shield tapped off and CV cleaned up. Quick question, once the new inner seal is installed, do you put any grease of anything on the seal?

Found a fully assembled Dorman Hub/Bearing p/n 4110446 for $135.99 from Rock Auto. Also got the Timken inner seal p/n 710573 for $7.81. Be here Thursday. Now just have to swing by the Dealershit for the CV Dust shield and O-Ring tomorrow:thumbsup:

I use SuperLube 92003 Silicone for all rubber to metal contact, except in high temp environments as in brake components where I use the pricier CRC Silaramic 05361 synthetic grease.

Do you pack it in there or just apply a light bead on the rubber parts prior to install
