why do people buy this for $400

a new Koyo assembly is $55 on eBay
you don't need special tools to press bearings
generic sleeves and cylinders have been used to replace bearings on German cars for over 20 years
I doubt Toyota is any different

There are plenty of Chinese bearing assemblies for under $100 out there. Knock yourself out. Some people want to buy local, support local. Some people want better quality, and OP is offering both.

Someone could also ask ‘why did you buy a Tacoma when you could have bought a Dongfeng Xiaokang K01?’

Koyo bearings used to be really good, and i imagine if you get them from their Japan factory they still are.

In the eBay listing you linked, the title says Koyo, but the description is not as promising.. this eBay listing to me says ‘buyer beware’.

    Per the listing: “
    • Asian wheel bearing (similar to China made Napa Prof Performer wheel bearing)”

Got these today in the mail, I live in RI but folks live in NH. Big storm here so box got wet, my dad said "PITA but effective packaging" :rofl:We do all/most of the maintenance on my vehicle for good father-daughter bonding time. Still trying to source both knuckle and CV seals but haven't dug too hard yet. Knuckle doesn't seem too bad but anyone have some tips for CV seal? Looking forward to this weekend! Hope this is easier than LCAs, painful to see a grinder on your truck.

Thanks again for fast processing and shipping! People have posted above "just press your own bearings it's cheaper" not always... I have no problem pressing bearings but just got home from 9 weeks in Alaska for work and I am lazy ;)

Here is a picture of the bearings I had received from @05Taco4x4

Got both installed for $570 at a local shop. Smooth sailing from here on out.IMG_3721.HEIC.jpg

Hi y’all, bearings in, it’s about a 4-5 beer job and pops is a seasoned plane/car wrencher his whole life. If you don’t plan on keeping old hubs just spray and beat em, large slide hammer on hand didn’t fit yota’s spread. I have exactly 113k mi on the rig, left hub for sure toast/near toast (floor vibe and whomp whomp whomp harmonics, you know the drill) could never tell by spinning wheel. Guess I didn’t let it self destruct yet. Can tell the difference when it’s off how easy it is to spin.

Strongly suggest CV and knuckle seal replacement judging on what came out. Takes patience and finesse to get seals on but do it right the first time. You DO NOT have to remove sway bar or knuckle even on stock height, two lower ball joint bolts come out easy but just did LCAs, nice that yota has this design. Zip tie calipers to UCA. You can pop CV right out by turning wheel FYI. We did remove wheel speed sensor just to clean the goop out better, takes two seconds. Needed some rust scrub on both sides. I have undercoated my vehicle straight since 2012 and still had rusty surfaces. Test drive tomorrow am:) sorry if this is all common knowledge just trying to save others time.

Additionally, bought the four seals from dealer and came to ~$110. Amazon was flighty about the knuckle seal and the other is dealer only. Parts guy was cool and said I could return even if opened. YMMV. ID red and corrosion X is your friend. Cheers and good luck!

Dumb question.... do I need any other parts besides buying these wheel bearings already pressed? Anything else recommended? Thanks

    Not dumb
I recommend replacing the seal on the inboard side of the steering knuckle, and the seal on the end of the CV (which it mates). These are the water defense on the back side of the bearing

    edit:
The part number for those two seals, you'll need one each per side
