Anyone seen this on their or other's Tacomas? Dealer I was shopping at said it was a common issue for a few years...this truck was an '03. These little blisters or knobs look like clear coat gone bad, when scratched with a fingernail, they pop off, leaving a little dot of rust or corrosion behind. Rest of the truck and frame were pretty solid. I'll talk to a body shop later, but it seems like they'll need to be media blasted and recoated to me

Mine looked just like that on my '03. That's why I painted them.

Mine has a little bit of that happening. Not as bad as in your pic, but I have seen it. At first I thought it was just caked on brake dust, tried to clean it, but it would not come off.
I am in Florida, so it is not road salt related. Sand blast and paint might cost almost as much as new wheels, so I don't know if it worth the effort.

All four of my rims are the same way. I haven't tried to clean them yet, but I am planning on painting them black this summer.

My wheels are the same way... maybe even worse.

That's why I'm gonna sand the piss out of them and spray them down with some flat black.

Mine was scared up by the dealer rotating them. Called in an outside guy to repair. Came out looking new. Point is there are people out there that can do this for ya.

Looks like brake dust build up that alot of people neglect to clean off when washing a vehicle.

Considering you buy an entire set of four of those rims around $150 and have three spares or sell them individually I wouldn't waste not one penny getting them refinished.

Can't wait until mine do this. Just a legitimate excuse to get some new wheels. They never will, though, because I clean mine.
