    no relevant results using 'search':

am buying 'wheel cylinder repair kits' for overdue maintenance/repair on my rear (drum) brakes but there are two size options : 7/8" or 15/16"... I haven't a clue which size I need. 96 2wd xcab base 4cyl 5lug auto.

.....from RockAuto so can't call or 'chat' w/a human.

Hoping someone here knows this 'off the top of their head'. Thanks!

Since both sizes where used in the year depending on which brakes were installed you need to measure .

since your rebuilding by both kits

you want to be careful when cleaning up the bore of the cylinder not done correct they tend to leak worse

    Thanks for responding Wyoming09.
And for the advice- I've never rebuilt a wheel cylinder before.....is it similar to 'rebuilding' brake calipers? If so I should be ok-I have no idea why anyone would go buy new calipers as opposed to re-doing theirs-it was actually pretty easy. Hardest part for me was keeping the brake fluid off my hands/every painted surface in reach.

grrahhh....everluvin':censored: Toyotas : seems like I too often end up in that limbo where "ya can't get there from here" .......uh-huh. _Sure you can.....eventually. Hope you have a backup vehicle available...... need part, must remove old part :rant:before ya can know which new part:rant: ya need:rant::rant:knew I shouldn't have let the Honda go.....:crapstorm:

    ...rant over. sorry.

To anyone still reading after my tantrum:
...is there any way to measure the wheel cylinder without uninstalling it first?
And WHAT exactly will I be measuring? Inside diameter? Outer dimensions? The difference between 7/8" and 15/16" pretty small...
