Yea I see what you mean and yes that will definitely work.

Your so right about having more jacks the better you are. Any time I'm traveling a long distance I take one of those Craftsman jacks with me, cause well as you found out, you just never know.

.....and since we're on this subject, I know that we would all like to carry a large assortment of tools with us every time (and I'm sure some do) but keeping it limited to just what our Tacoma's rear floor compartments can store this is what I always carry around. Basic things for changing a tire like a Breaker Bar, various Extensions along with a 13/16 socket to fit my lug nut key, Torque wrench, gloves, an old used extra engine belt, a small socket set and of course my Tacoma's basic jack and yes I probably need to add and carry a few more tools at that.

Props to the OP for the calm and collected Subject line.

In contrast to others who write 'HELP!!!'

    and then...

    'My glovebox won't open!'

The stock bottle jack isn't too bad. What's nice is since it's mechanical and not hydraulic, it can safely act as a jack stand. Also I forget the size, but one of the metric sockets fits over the end of one of the poles that you turn to raise and lower it. You can use the impact to raise and lower the truck super easy.

Interesting... Unfortunately I bought the truck used and it didn't have factory jack...I just carry a bottle jack, a hi-lift, and some blocks... will have to look into getting a replacement factory jack.

Ah drat! Yeah I like mine, and recently used it on the trail to change a flat. Even with a lift and 33s, it got it off the ground enough to change the tire. Just needed to place it on a rock to get a couple more inches of lift.

Maybe just saw off and carry just a small square piece of 2x4 wood, in your rear floor compartments, to sit the jack on for next time? :notsure:

That's what I plan on doing. I have a lot of scrap wood laying around, so I'm going to make a wide base for it and also a piece of 4x4 as a spacer.

I'd recommend the aluminum 'racing' jack from Harbor Freight along with some 2x6 or 2x4 scrap. With a 20% off coupon the HF jack is less expensive than the one you linked on Amazon.

Yea I am not against harbor freight, in fact most of the tools that got me off the side of the highway were from there, I have one of their floor jacks and it does the job but I think their is better out there in the same price range, we shall see.
