I'm brand new here on Tacoma world, but I've referenced this site a bunch. I'm on my 3rd Tacoma. Just getting ready to do some wheels and tires and would like some help. I have two main questions:

    - First, I just ordered the XD807 Strike wheels 17x9 and from what I am reading I want to know if I should be concerned about the offset? It is at -24mm on that wheel. Can anything be done when they are installed to insure they don't stick out too far?

    - Second, I have been looking to do a tire size of 265/70r17, should I have any concerns fitting the above wheel? I'm just looking for some reassurance that will be the right fit? Right now its down to the BFG KO2 and the Toyo ATII

    Appreciate it!

I think the offset will put them out kind of far. The larger the negative offset, the more the tire will stick out. I also believe that the 265/70/17 may only be able to be mounted to an 8" rim and not a 9" according to the specs of it. Not completely sure on it, may wanna check it.

Thanks for the response. I checked with a few shops and they said the same thing. They said it would rub as well unless I did at least a 4" lift. Looks like I'm back on the hunt for wheels. What offset should I be looking at that would fit with stock to lifted at 2" or so?

What size tire would fit a 9" rim then?

    Thanks again

I think around a -12mm offset is about the max and best option, most of those are 9" wide though. Im still learning all of this as well, ive just been researching alot on it. Im getting ready to do a 3" lift on mine and i wanna make sure i dont screw it up either, lol. Any info i learn though i will be happy to pass it along.

Thanks for the help. What kind of 3" lift are you doing? Same in the front as the rear?

I finally pulled the trigger and got wheels and tires. I went with the 275/70/17 KO's and the 17x9 XD Addicts -12mm. It was a little tight getting the 275's on there but it worked. Did a little trimming and removed the front flaps, need to do a touch more, but not much. I love the way it turned out. No lift yet, but down the road I may do the 5100's.

Looks great! How are you liking the KO2s? Have you noticed a big power loss and mpg hit w/ the 275s? especially since they're load range e?

The KO2's have been great! They are a perfect balance of an aggressive look and daily driver tire that I was going for. Hardly any change in noise compared to the stock BF's that were on there originally. I can tell it is a little bigger tire in the sense it is more stable and has better grip. I don't feel like there is much loss in power at all, maybe just slightly. The MPG's is tough to gauge because it is a wider diameter tire so the amount of miles I drive on a tank has gone down, but in actuality it would be higher than what it is showing.

I referred to this to see how much of an effect it had. https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc?tires=265-70r16-275-70r17

The only thing I've had to mess around with is a little bit of rubbing. It's only when I back up and turn the wheel a certain way. I just need to adjust some of the plastic in the wheel well and that will be fixed.
