Oh no! Another wheel offset question. Sorry everyone! I'm new to TW and I'm looking for a pretty specific answer. I've had my Tacoma for around 6 months and it's ready for some changes. I plan on putting on some 17 or 18x8 Fuel wheels. (My first decision is wheel size if anyone has input) My question is offset... I'm leaning towards -12. I don't want to much tire hanging out, maybe 1" at most. Does anyone have any input? Also, I'll be installing a HBS level kit if that changes anything. Thanks!

Welcome to TW. What size tires do you plan on running? And how wide of wheel are you looking at? And why do you want your tires sticking outside of the truck? This just throws everything down the side of the truck body. IMO, it is best to keep them pushed right out to the edge of the fender flare. Ideally you should keep wheel widths in the 7-8" range.

Here is a pic of mine, running 265/70R17s on a 7.5" wide wheel with +6 offset

I don't think Fuel wheels come in that low of offsets. I'd go with 17s unless your truck is purely a street truck. 17s will be better for off road use and have better selection than 18s. What style of wheels are you looking at? There are some great OEM TRD options.

But to answer your original question, -12 offset (assuming 7.5" wide wheel width, and a 265 wide tire) is going to stick out about 3/4" further than mine in the above pictures, which are right about at the edge of the fender flare.

Crashnburn80: thanks for the info. I'm looking at running a 265 70R17. You're completely right about kicking stuff up the side, and I'm definitely not looking to ruin my paint! The wheels I had originally looked at were 17x8. That's what I'm leaning towards as I don't want to change too much. You're setup is exactly what I'm looking for. I do some mild trails, Nothing too crazy. Thanks again.

Some TRD special edition OEM options to consider that will give you ideal wheel placement in the fender:

Beadlock style off-road wheel 16" (available in grey, bronze and black):

Pro SEMA wheels 17" (available in black and grey):

    Forged Rock Warriors 17" (expensive):

Personally I'm a big fan of OEM wheels as they are often superior quality and lower weight than most aftermarket options, and designed to work well with the vehicle.
