I am thinking of going to 35s down the road and I was curious what everyone is running wheel and offset/backspacing wise. I know about all the cutting and trimming involved and am more worried about rubbing on the control arms. My current wheels are 17x8.5, 0 offset, 4.75 in back spacing and don't rub on 33s but I have a feeling I will on 35s.

This is what you need to fit 35s: https://jdfabrication.com/products/tacoma-05-18-lower-arm-pivots

Then get whatever wheels and 35s you want after you trim your fenders and remove or replace your fender liners

Not true, other options available. Just get a good CMC and you might need spacers depending on the wheels you get to prevent any rubbing but you’ll definitely need some UCAs and an alignment to help not rub on full lock

Damn dude chill:p I’m on 35”s with stock LCA, UCA’s. But I have 1.25” spidertrax and alpine designs CMR. Not in a hurry to replace the UCA’s since I must have those spacer to prevent tire to shock contact in the rear.

lol I've got the BTF LCAs and 35s. You really do need to move the LBJ forward for enough clearance without a CMR and even then probably do need to trim fenders for full lock/flex

If I had it to do over again I'd keep my stock LCAs and get the JD Fab pivot kit. That's why I recommend it to anyone asking.

Nothing against BTF or any aftermarket LCAs, but OEM are pretty fucking bombproof and don't really need to get replaced unless you're going LT

I can’t comment on turd gens as I would and did not spend a dollar on one

but I’ve heard they took 2nd gen’s and made them worse for more money, so the same would apply (which I have)

I ran 35’s on no spacer then got spacers. Not sure what the difference was.

It’s not that big a tire and not that hard to fit. If one has funds to flush down the toilet on a turd gen then they can afford that. Things like DRT CMR, fender trim, etc.

I think I did DRT CMR. Fender delete. UCA and LCA push forward alignment/caster.
That part on “3rd” gen is probably unchanged ie applicable same requirements.

you do 37’s and 40’s THEN you start running into questions unlike a Jeep.

if your cam tabs aren’t already toast then you get the cheaper option of a better fab LCA and reinforcements.

    now that’s a fuckin rig
That is some desktop background shit.

get that guy a gofundme we need to get him a SyKlone precleaner NOW

Depends on what upper control arm you have. You can test it and then buy small wheel spacers if they happen to be rubbing. Some spacers may require trimming of the studs as well so if you want to avoid that you have to use a bigger spacer but then you run into cab mount and firewall clearance issues. Essentially starting a snow ball effect and by the time they fit properly there’s nothing in those front fenders wells that is stock. Just kidding but anticipate cutting more things off than what research says because some people claim 35’s fit with a minimal amount of work and IMO is far from the truth. You have to think about bump stops spacers limiting your up travel as well unless you want to cut the top of the inner fenders.

This is the kind of advice I'm talking about. If you really want 35s to work just get the JD pivot kit and the C4 fender liner kit and fucking ride man. Even then you'll still probably need a CMC and to mash the inner fender with a BFH

Otherwise, yeah you can maybe, just maybe, get some halfassed amalgamation of parts to work so long as you never wheel it and don't care about rubbing on stuff in the wheel well.

With BTF lca's you're limited to 0 offset wheels per their description. I like some negativity with my wheel offsets. :p

Put on the 35's. See what rubs and go from there.
