I'm wondering if a 16x7 30 offset tacoma 6 lug will fit my 2004 tacoma with 16x7 15 offset.. I don't understand completely about offset other than it needs to clear the rotor etc. Hoping someone can drop some knowledge, thanks

Plenty of knowledge out there. This is the first link Google suggested when I searched "wheel offset" https://www.tirerack.com/upgrade-garage/what-is-wheel-offset

This thread (which is stickied in the 1st gen section) talks about wheel fitment: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...er-toyota-wheels-on-my-1st-gen-thread.563416/

The thread talks in terms of backspacing instead of offset, but the principles are the same. The two measurements are closely related--backspacing measures from the inside of the rim to the mounting surface while offset measures from the centerline to the mounting surface. You can convert between them as long as you know the width of the rim.

Your factory 15mm offset wheels have a greater track width than a 30mm offset would have. In other words, the outer edge of your tire is 15mm nearer the center of the vehicle. If you have fender flares this goofy look is exasperated. This is a major downfall of putting newer Tacoma wheels on our 1st gens.
