Hi, I got a set of jegs baja 8 wheels for my tacoma and some spacers but for some reason when I'm going from 50-65mph it shakes like crazy.I got them balanced 4 times and still nothing they told me that steel wheels are always going to shake, is there anyway I could fix that?

That is a ridiculous statement from a tire shop/garage. Of course steel wheels can be balanced and not shake.

First thought is to find a different (and competent) shop. It may be good to find someone who can road force balance.

Don't settle for your current situation.

I went to 4 different shops the last one told me that. Should I get different spacers?

Good grief. Well... in that case, is there any chance the wheels can be installed without the spacers for an on-road test? Or, have a buddy who has the same width spacers which are known to be good and swap them on?

What I'm struggling with is that none of the shops could point their finger at an exact problem.

Are the tires known "good" tires?

Did any of those shops do a road force balancing? That's different than spin balancing and will help identify a bad tire or out of round wheel.

I would guess if a spacer isn't sitting exactly flat (or maybe was not manufactured properly) then it would cause this. Ensuring there isn't any debris, rust flakes, corrosion, etc. on the surface of the wheel flange and around the lip of the hub, and ensuring that each spacer fits properly is a must. A good wire brushing would take care of that.

So, no chance of the wheels and tires fitting without the spacers for a test drive? If you can, it'll help narrow down the source of the problem.

Im no expert on spacer design but I think you need to make sure they are hub centric and not lug centric.

    ^^^This.

Lug centric wheels can cause that problem. The spacers need to be hub centric also.
