If I put a set of 2020 Tacoma wheels with wheel sensors on my 2012 reg cab will the tpms work?

No, the sensors are not interchangeable. Your 2012 sensors will fit in the 2020 wheels though.

Thank you so much for the info. I would need to buy new seals to install my sensors in the newer wheels. Where can I get them? thanks

You may want to consider new sensors. The batteries in a 2012 are 11 years old.

My opinion. Base your decision on what you do on what’s most valuable to you, time or saving a buck.

If you have time to burn and wanna save a buck, have the old sensors installed in the new wheels. Keep in mind you might be back to get a dead sensor replaced.

If your time is valuable, get all new sensors installed, I’ve heard denso is good. Or if you already recently replaced some dead ones, replace the ones that haven’t been replaced.
