Hey TacomaWorld. I have a new 2021 Tacoma I bought in May of last year and this is the first winter with the truck. Roads started getting icy and salty about 2 weeks ago, so I thought it was about time to go wash the underside when I noticed what looked like rust on the wheels. These are new OEM steel wheels with winter tires that I just put on last month.

I noticed the back 2 wheels developed orange patterns in the center and the whatever that is behind the wheel also looked like it's covered in orange. The front 2 wheels also developed orange patterns in the center, but there seems to be some sort of a cap covering the center. And the thing behind the wheel looked like it's covered in orange dots. I attached some pictures and labelled them accordingly.

Is this actually rust? If so, is the truck affected in any way or is it just the wheels? What can I do to fix this? Thanks in advance!

What you see behind the wheels is the brake rotor; rust in completely normal. That appears to be light rust on the hubs as well (center of wheels).
