Hey, I’m looking to buy new rims and tires for a 21 tacoma trd off-road. Completely stock underside and want to know what offset and backspacing I’d need to help fit a 33” tire. Currently looking to get BFGoodritch KO2s and haven’t decided on a rim.

Zero offset will be your best bet.

255/85r16 on stock rims and you won't have to do anything.

They don’t make that tire size for KO2s but if you have any other good A/T tire recommendations I’ll check them out, these are the 2 tire sizes for the KO2 that would fit on my stock rims, would one be better over the other?

Looks good, do those rims have any backspacing?

Why are you hung on a KO2?

Are you going to keep the OE wheels or move on?

Going to move on, probably keep 16” rims but looking at some method race wheels, and not really hung up just where I live it’s one of the most popular tires, but I’ve heard the wild peak at4s are good, just a lil heavy, also heard the Toyo at3s are a great tire, so it’d be between those 3

I'm running 255/85/16s on Black Rhino guides with a -10 and have had no issues (no stock). Same set up when stock I experienced some rubbing at rear of wheel well while turning.

    Yeah.
Yeah, skinnies are only available in mud-terrains. Some people don't want or need mud-terrains. I've had great luck with KO2's, but people here on TW either love them or hate them. They are a good tire, IMHO. I've considered the Toyo as well.

265/75R16 is likely going to be the biggest you can go and should work fine on a stock rim or something with -10 to -25 offset. Any bigger and you will likely run into rubbing issues. I ran that size for quite a while and they served me well.

Or go skinnies with mud-terrains, but that would be annoying for a daily driver in the city/weekend trail runner.

appreciate it, and my truck is exactly that, so I don’t think I could go skinnies with mud terrains. And within the month I’ll be buying new rims probably, I just need the tires now as I got a flat and my current tires are towards the end of their life anyway so it’s an excuse to spend more money on the truck lol

For those with 255/85/16, how does the weight compare with 265/75/16?

id imagine they would be similar. I’d love to make the switch, but dont want to take any more hit on my MPGs. I’ve got a tuned MT, 31s and a 2” lift and I’m getting between 15.5-18mpg depending on how much hw driving I’m doing. Most of my driving is within city limits.

They only have a 305/75/R16, do you know how that’d do on stock?

I’d wait for the rims instead of mounting and unmounting then remounting tires.
Not a lot of help here I’ve got a 2” lift but 33’s 285/75/16 kos on level 8 wheels.
    Love the look though.
