My daughter has a 2006 Tacoma double cab 4x4 6 cylinder 4.0. She goes off road and does medium level off reading. Her truck came with 16” wheels and 245/75/16 tires. She would like to go with a little bigger tires and we are wondering if 17” wheels will work? If so, would 265/65/17’s or 265/70/17’s fit and still not hurt the overall ride? I would be interested in knowing what some of you have put on your similar trucks and what you think. Thanks for the help.

I think they’d do great. Go for it

My 3rd Gen came with 245/75/16’s. I currently have 265/75/16’s on the truck and they work great. No need to cut or trim anything, full size spare still fits in the normal spot under the bed, MPGs aren’t bad at all. Speedometer is accurate to the MPH so you don’t have to worry about getting caught by speed cameras or speeding without realizing it.

The only two reasons to go up to a 17” wheel are 1) if you like the look and 2) there are more tire options for 17” wheels.

A 17” wheel won’t make the tire bigger just FYI.
