    Great day,

I am considering a set of wheel spacers on my 17 TRD Offroad. The goal is to possibly install bigger tires for the future, but also to add a wider stance... Any thoughts or concerns? does this affect the drivability? seems like a quick and cheap mod. Thank you!!!

The wider you go (with tires, wheels, and/or spacers) the more you're going to potentially rub the mud flaps, fender flares, etc.

By adding a spacer, you move the wheel farther out from the steering knuckle pivot point. This increases the arc that the wheel moves through. So when the tire is at full lock, it will be physically closer to the mudflap, fender liner, fender or cab mount. Especially when you increase the tire diameter, this compounds the issue. There are lots of threads in here on this.

In general staying within factory offsets and tire diameter should be trouble free, like using a TRD Pro offset wheel of +4 and max size tire of 265/75r16s or 265/70R17's. I have read that 255/80R16 will work as well if height is the goal.

I like 1 - 1.25" spacers with stock wheels and lift. Makes the trucks stance look nice in my opinion. Also 285/75 on stock wheels rubbed my control arms without spacers. With spacers there is no rubbing. In a perfect world... 16x8 wheels with the right offset for me.

265/75/16- spidertrax spacers with stock SR5 wheel - no issues 2 years - definitely a different feel in the steering wheel when driving on the freeway and a potential for wheel bearing wearing more quickly from what I have read.

Bilstein 1" front lift and 1.5" Icon 3 leaf AAL in the back.

Thanks! I think these are the best looking Tacoma stock rims IMHO.

What kind of difference? Thinking of getting 1.25" Spidertrax to give my UCAs more clearance (they juuust clear now), but still on the fence.

I have 1.25 Spidertrax on stock wheels with no issues. If you properly install them you will not have any issues. There is a lot of myths about spacers.

It just feels slightly different than the narrower stock stance. I guess you could say its a slightly more resistant in the steering wheel. I kind of over think things to be honest though.

Ah ok, that's pretty minor and doesn't sound like something that would bother me much. Thanks for the info!
