I recently bought a 2010 2wd 5 lug tacoma and was trying to have pro comp 69's installed on my truck ( with 30×9.5 falkens). Unfortunately upon install the wheels rubbed on the front calipers, a problem I've heard a lot about for this model truck. The pro comp 69's have 3.75in backspacing and I've seen other members on here with aftermarket wheels with the same backspacing have no rubbing with their wheels but unfortunately these didn't work. I was looking at getting 1/4in wheel spacers to clear the calipers in the front but could only find 5 lug hub-centric spacers in the 10mm size. Would I need extended studs and extended lug nut threads for these? I've read of people using toyota matrix studs for the v6 tacoma and was wondering if this would work for the 5 lug as well, but I haven't heard anyone say anything about extended-thread lug nuts. Would I also still need hub-centric rings if I was using hub-centric spacers?

    Look at my cool truck

So I ran 1/4 spacers for a while. Yes you will need either extended lug nuts or studs. I do currently have the matrix studs on but I ran into an issue with them.

The shoulder on the studs are too long by a very small amount so when I got different rims and didn't need the spacer the lugnut tightened on the shoulder before the rim and spun. The lugnut had to be cut off to remount the stud.

Basically you either go extended lug nuts (keep spares with you as no local shop usually has them) or go extended studs and never mount a rim without the spacers.

Also my most rims are lug centric and I always just sent mine with no vibration lol

So would you suggest the ARP1007715 lexus studs that are $42 a set instead of the toyota matrix ones?

Also, your posts on have saved me a decent amount of money, so I thank you for that :D

If those are the ones I'm thinking of yeahhhh I know they suck for the price but believe me I would have gone that route if I were to do it again.

No worries man most of us have been there lol.

Still learning how to use this website, sorry lol. But alas, it is done. I've bought a pair of cheap Chinese headlights for $150 on Amazon, which I may or may not install and I'm done spending money on this truck until I start making more. Thank you so much for your help, man!

Sup man! I have been thinking about replacing my stock 5-lugs with similar wheels you got. How are they feeling? Any noticeable differences in mpg, power, steering, etc?

I haven't measured my mpg since replacing these but I'm sure I've lost a few despite me using aluminum wheels that weigh less than stock. There is a noticeable difference in power coming from a complete stop and going up hills but it isn't terrible and once you get going it's essentially the same. I usually try to keep my rpm's under 2k but it's harder to do with this setup lol. The biggest difference I've noticed tbh is the braking distance and the ride quality. I have to give myself more room before I start braking, which I don't really like, but that is what it is. I've also had some issues with the ride quality and the steering wheel jerking back and forth at high speeds since installing the new setup, but I'm pretty sure that's due to the tires I chose and the people not quite balancing the tires on the wheels correctly (Discount tire is cheap for a reason). Went back to get the front rebalanced and the steering wheel jerking mostly went away... Also, I've had some issues with rubbing despite having done the black box mod, but I've got it to where it only rubs when I'm taking a sharp left. If I wanted to stop the rubbing completely I'd probably have to remove the plastic from the wheel well but I'm ok with only occasionally rubbing rn. All-in-all spent ~$1800 for this setup and I love the way it came out. $840 tires, $470 wheels, $110 spacers, $40 tpms sensors, $50 lug nuts, $140 to mount the tires, $115 for an alignment.
