Hey all- I'm looking for answers from those of you who have experience with wheel spacers/adapters with the stock 16" alloy wheels and 265/75r16's. I've already searched and read a number of related threads.

I'm planning on installing the Spidertrax 1.25" spacers/adapters so that I have enough clearance between the sidewall and UCA to fit tire-chains. Right now, there's only about an inch of clearance, and I definitely don't want the chain mangling any of the running gear components.

Background: I have 2.5" diameter coilovers and light racing UCA's up front--about 2.75" of lift.

I chose Spidertrax because people seem to agree that they are high quality, and they're hub-centric. I guess they're technically called adapters since they have lug nuts pressed into them already.

    I have three main questions.

First, am I going to end up slinging mud all over my truck? We have a serious mud season up here in the mountains.

Second, will I have any rubbing when turning?

Third, should I worry about my wheel bearings?

    Thanks for the advice!

I have 30,000+ miles on my spidertrax & 265/75r16 duratracs with zero issues or rubbing. I have 5100s set at 1.75 in the front & the tsb leaf packs in the back, so <2" lift for me. A little more mud gets thrown around, but it is not noticeable especially when getting sideways slings mud everywhere anyway. I am considering moving to 255/85r16 Cooper Discoverer S/Ts to get more height & less width. I have not been able to figure out how much they will rub though or if they will even fit.

I have the same size tire on wheels with 0 mm offset, so effectively the same stance as stock TRD OR wheels with 1.25" spacers. I have Icon coilovers set at about 2.5" and All-Pro UCAs giving 5 deg of caster. The last bit is important - aftermarket UCAs move the upper ball joint location rearward, reducing tire clearance.

    1. Minimal mud slinging if full-length flaps are installed.

    2. Stock flaps rubbed the tire at full lock. I installed Huskyliner flaps which have more clearance. Now the tires rub only at full lock and full tuck.

    3. For the above reason, I would not be comfortable running snow chains. The chains will likely tear up the bottom of the fender flare or the plastic fender liner.

Thanks guys! Yeah, I'm a little worried about the chains, but sometimes they're a necessity to get to my hunting area in the fall. I've seen rigs with just chains on the back, but I like the added security of chains on all 4. It's kind of amazing what these trucks can do with proper off-road style chains on.

Of course, every problem is solvable with enough funding. Get fiberglass fenders if you want to run big tires. :D

True! Nah, 265/75 is plenty big enough for me
