Running 285 tires on my '04... They rub a little on full lock. The truck has a small lift of 2" I think.

Wondering if 1.25" spacers would help with this? Anyone here run into this?

Yes you'll be in good shape. I'm on 285/75 w/ 3" lift and 1.5" synergy spacers, no issues. 1.25" should be enough, only ran 1.5 cause of my wheels.

Here's how far my tires stick out, won't be too big a difference for 1.25

Thanks! I was on the fence between 1.25 and the 1.5! Think I may go with the 1.5 after seeing your truck! Any chance you have a pic from the side?

I off road every now and then and commute the highway 6 days a week and no issues with the spacers, I'd stick away from eBay spacers and keep to trusted names like spidertrax and synergy.

What wheels are you running and what is the back spacing?

If you run front spacers greater than 1"... IIRC, you'll need to do the pinch weld modification.

I run the OEM black spare wheels with a 1/2" spacer on each side. Not sure of the wheel backspacing but I did rub the rear frame rail a bit... until I welded a 1/2" steel tab onto the rear of the lower control arm, at the point where the spindle makes contact at full lock... cured that. Also, I did not need to do the pinch weld modification and I too have 285-75-16's.

    Good luck.

    Explain your perspective please.
Since OP is using the OEM wheels, which was the 1st question asked in my reply post, he will not need a spacer larger than 1" if the backspacing matches the OEM black spare wheel. In that case, he will not need to do the pinch weld mod.

    sgt1577,
Be sure to get a decent spacer and remember they are hubcentric.

    Good luck.

    My perspective?
You mean my basis on the fact that I run 1.5" spacers for about 2 years or so and the fact my h3 wheels have God awful back spacing and never had to do this "pinch weld" mod. Just saying.

Cool, glad that works for you but, those are not the OEM wheel, which he is using w/ 2" of lift.

What is the back spacing on your GM wheels?

So with your logic an OEM wheel with less back spacing and a 1.25-1.5 spacer requires to do some bs mod, vs a wheel that has most likely the most back spacing you'll see on a Tacoma w/ a 1.5 that never even needed it.

    sgt1577,
    Are you running OEM UCA's?

When I was IFS, I had ICON extended CO's and Total Chaos UCA's. Running the OEM wheels, I needed the spacer for 2 reasons:
    1. I needed clearance for the uni-ball where the tire bulge was too close for my liking.
    2. Keep away from the slight rub on the frame.

You will need the rear wheel studs off of a Toyota Matrix if you end up with the 1/2" spacers which I suggest you use since you are 4x4.

Do your best in checking all clearances before you wheel, that includes full stuff @ full lock too.

Just my .02 as I've been in your situation.

Wholly crap... that's a bunch. That explains the spacer thickness.

I believe I'm at 4" with the OEM spares.

The wheels look good on your rig. What is the weight per wheel?

Not necessarily. Once you achieve full stuff, that's where things come into play. It's not BS. Stuff your wheel at full lock while in a jam... you'll see what I mean.

Thanks for all the info! Running the stock wheels and control arms and have no interest in lifting it any higher! Going to try the 1.25" Spidertrax. Hopefully I'll get the look I'm after and stop the rub.
