    I have not done any suspension mods at all, but I have seen posts in TW about "wheel spacers". Can someone direct me to a good thread on this? I would like to know what the optimal size spacer is considered to be. Do they stress the axles or void warranties? Steel vs aluminum? I assume they are mostly for asthetics/looks to get a wider stance on the truck? Are there good/better/best wheel spacers (they all look the same to me). Thanks.

    Get spidertrax spacers. Best bang for your buck. I like them because they give the truck a little more wider stance, and they helped me fit 285/75/16 on my stock wheels.

    From what i've read through the forum Spidertrax spacers are the way to go for our trucks

    I can see how it might help with the tire width, but how would it help with the larger circumference? Seems counter intuitive.....

    Do you use the same spacers on front and back? Do they affect the camber, etc or alignment?

    I dont think it really helps with the larger circumference. Your lift is what helps you with that. If you go with a wider tire on stock rims, the spacers help you. Other way is to buy wheels with a different backspacing.

    As far as alignment goes, I havent took mine to get aligned yet. But I know others have these and have had no issues that I heard of. I run them on the back too. It looks really good

    idk if you can tell but it does widen the stance a little. they are 1.25" spacers. So your truck will be 2.5" wider

    Do you have the stock tires JD? I have a 2006 SR5 4x4 and I think the tires are 245/75/16's?

    Here's what mine (Spidertrax 1.25") look like with the stock tires, which are the same size (I think) as yours Pster.

    Please don't buy any brand other than Spidertrax. I have never heard anything bad about them, and I can't say anything bad either. But do realize that you are putting extra stress on your truck, backed up with evidence here. It won't be immediate, but long long down the road, spacers could prove problematic.

    I'm leaving mine on, however :thumbsup:

    Did you have to cut off the lug nut bolts at all with the 1.25"? I just looked at some vids on You Tube that indicated that some spacer/wheel combinations might cause you to have to cut off the bolts to accept the spacer. I REALLY don't want to do that!

    Pster, after installing the wheel spacers you will need an alignment if you want the front end to be properly aligned. By moving the wheels out further from the vehicle center, the alignment is effected.

    Now I'm sure many people will claim that it did not effect their truck at all, but the geometry doesn't lie. If you want to do it right, go ahead and get an alignment after installing the spacers.

    Yeah, I read the post. Pretty intuitive that a spacer increases the fulcrum leverage (arm force) on the wheel/axel. Just wasn't sure to what extent, if it was enough to cause damage.

    i've heard lots and lots of people say that spidertrax is the way to go.... while i don't doubt they are a quality product i have yet to read even 1 real example why... lots of vague claims that spidertrax is a "top brand" and "made from quality materials" but no real reason why one is better than another.

    obviously there are shitty ones to stay away from out there but i just don't buy into spidertrax being the one and only


    i have trail gear spacers and have seen the spider trax spacers... can't really tell a difference... except one is blue, maybe thats what makes them so invincible

    I don't have them so I can't speak much for, or against them but.. It appears that the spider-trax spacers are machined from billet 6061T6 aluminum which is about as high quality as you can get. The only other thing that could be of issue would be their machining quality, and how they secure the wheel studs. I'm pretty sure both would be of highest quality available when you consider the type of materials that are being used.

    I'm sure some owners will chime in on this one.

    like i said... not much different... just spidertrax got real popular so now most people tout preference as fact.


    also, trail gear spacers are cheaper than spidertrax and you don't have to wait for them to be in stock...

    and i don't have any particular affinity towards trail gear it just gets annoying when people read posts about someones opinion then goes around regurgitating it like its fact
