Wheel Speed Sensor Code P0500

Check Engine light keeps coming on and off on my 05 Tacoma. I ran the codes and code P0500 A speed sensor code keeps popping up. No ABS lights etc. are on. I bought some speed sensors on Amazon, but the fit was firm. Light turned off for about a week then came back on with the same code. I put the old sensors back in and light was off for a bit, but just recently came back on. Not sure what is going on. Can an old battery cause this code? Odd thing is too, after I fill up on gas the light goes off too every once in a while.

 

If your speedometer always works then likely the SPD circuit in the Combination Meter (Instrument Cluster) is failing.
